Effect of explosive shock on the mechanical property and energy release characteristics of an Al/Ni reactive material

Abstract Reactive materials applied to warhead fragments or charge liner will be driven by strong detonation, so their mechanical behavior and energy release characteristics affected a certain extent. In this paper, dynamic static tests impact initiation experiment were carried out on the detonation-loaded Al/Ni reactive material. Compared with that have not subjected explosive shock, it is found better strength after shock. Meanwhile, impact-initiated efficiency of material lower, when loaded 14.76GPa, 21.79GPa 28.84GPa, reaction degree decreased 26.6%, 78.8% 80.5% respectively. Due incompatibility elastic modulus melting point between aluminum nickel particles, particles move aggregate in matrix during shock loading. The pores appear at particle boundaries, gradually expand into cracks. research results show original parameters cannot used judge working conditions materials, loading are external factors requires additional consideration.
